All About Chemical Peel Treatments

Chemical Peels

Usually when you hear the term Chemical Peel, you may cringe. You may think: aggressive treatments, followed by burned, peeling and crusting skin.

At The Goldberg Centre for Cosmetic Surgery, we offer the best in chemical peel treatments from PCA Skin. PCA Skin are the first maker of blended chemical products, with over twenty years in the medical and clinical market as a peel formulator. PCA Professional TCA Peels are very different from the standard. Their TCA solutions are blends formulated with many ingredients including lactic acid, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), plumping phytohormones and kojic and azelaic acids to produce dramatic results without the discomfort and down time with traditional TCA Peels.

What Are Chemical Peels?

Safely administered by our medical aestheticians, chemical Peels are a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that improves the appearance of skin. It is a simple controlled treatment that removes and minimizes unappealing abnormalities, and dead surface skin cells, and reveals the fresh undamaged skin underneath. It boosts the growth of new cells and the production of collagen vital for firmness. It is a safe, pain free procedure that is non-toxic to skin cells.

What Can I Expect from a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peel treatments are targeted to your specific skin type. The treatment generally lasts under a half hour long. Immediately following a procedure the skin will be sensitive to sun exposure.  Redness and slight flaking may occur for a few days, depending on the strength of the peel.  A single treatment can achieve desired results, though a series of treatments, usually 3-6 are commonly required depending on the type of skin and the severity of the problem. A series of chemical peels scheduled at specific intervals can also strengthen the skin. In fact, this will make the treated skin stronger against the harmful affects of the environment.

Who Benefits from Chemical Peels?

The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of chemical peels are effective in easing inflammation and redness related to severe forms of acne or rosacea. Those who struggle with enlarged pores, sun damaged skin, poor complections plagued with acne and scaring, blotchy skin, wrinkles, pigmentation irregularities and even actinic keratoses would greatly benefit from a chemical peel. Each client has a different skin type and degree of damage, our highly trained and experienced staff will determine the appropriate degree of chemical peel best suited for you.
Chemical peels are not recommended for pregnant or lactating women.
